Case Study | Supporting the Next Generation of Australian Pilots

IOR is proud to support regional Australian communities by developing innovative fuel infrastructure for local businesses.

In 2020, Qantas CEO Alan Joyce and State Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk opened the Qantas Group Pilot Training Academy at privately owned Wellcamp International Airport, Toowoomba. World-class training provider Flight Training Adelaide (FTA) was appointed by Qantas to carry out the training which will see graduates qualify with four Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) licences and approximately 150 flight hours.

IOR was engaged by airport owner and operator, Wagner Corporation, to design and build a custom refuelling facility for the academy. IOR was able to draw on extensive experience in providing custom solutions to build a 55,000L refuelling facility with the ability to simultaneously refuel three aircraft. The unique aviation tank was also fitted with IOR’s propriety fuel management system, HyDip®, providing real-time visibility on FTA’s fuel tank levels and complete oversight over aircraft fuel usage.

“We prioritise safety and efficiency in our training program so we were looking for a fuel supplier who shared those priorities and could look at different supply options to deliver a quality product. IOR have been very responsive to our needs and I am very happy with our relationship,”

Pierre Steyn | Chief Operating Officer for FTA Queensland – Qantas Group Pilot Academy
