As part of the QTA Road Freight Industry Awards, Andrew “Risky” Foster, a fuel tanker driver for IOR, was awarded joint Professional Driver of the Year.
The Queensland Trucking Association Road Freight Industry Awards recognises excellence in the industry, celebrating and acknowledging the contribution of people across member businesses.
The Professional Driver of the Year category recognises those who consistently uphold professionalism and pride through personal and vehicle presentation, skilled freight handling, customer and industry respect, and a strong commitment to safety, training, and mentoring.
Andrew has been with IOR for nine years. As a senior member of IOR’s driving team, Andrew leads by example, putting safety first, as well as mentoring the next generation of drivers to steer their success in the future.
Commenting on the incredible achievement for Andrew, IOR CEO Drew Morland said that everyone at IOR prides themselves on their commitment to delivering reliable fuelling solutions.
“It’s people like Risky who are on the frontline delivering exceptional service.
“He proves time and again how important the contribution of professional drivers is to this industry.
“He continues to demonstrate just how vital professional drivers are to all industry. They are the conduit between our customers and their energy, the glue that keeps Australians connected, moving, and growing.
“Just as Risky helps shape the next generation of IOR drivers, his commitment to his craft has been pivotal to his success and we couldn’t be prouder of this recognition for what is a well-deserved and fantastic achievement”, said Mr Morland.
This drive for improvement and mentorship is reflected in Andrew’s ongoing commitment to professional development, including his Cert IV in HV driver training.
Speaking on his win, Andrew said he was truly honoured to receive this award.
“Truck driving has given me a career I’m proud of, and now every day I’m helping new drivers to build theirs.
“It’s all about investing in our people and raising the standards of our industry every day,” said Andrew.
Andrew’s recognition is not only a personal milestone but also a reflection of the values that underpin IOR’s success: Innovation, Our Communities and Reliability.
IOR’s mission of Fuelling Australia wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and dedication of drivers. IOR’s people are some of the best in the business and that plays a major part in making this commitment a reality.
