Refining

IOR is the operator and major owner of a 1500 bpd refinery located at Eromanga in the far west of Queensland, approximately 1000 km from the Australian eastern coastal city of Brisbane. This refinery was commissioned in 1985 and has been progressively modernised and upgraded since then. A solvent   extraction plant was also added to enable the plant to make a variety of fuels and speciality solvents for the chemical industry.


theromanga01.jpg (5941 bytes)Eromanga is a harsh desert environment where the daily temperatures can range from +45C to freezing, and prone to floods  droughts, dust storms and insect plagues. The years of experience in operating this plant has given IOR a unique insight into the problems of an operator in running a small remote refinery in a harsh environment. It is from this plant that IOR trials all new technology in its Microstill™ refineries. Whether a Microstill™ is to be located in an Arctic or a desert location all equipment supplied by IOR has its reliability proven in actual operation.


IOR supplies high quality automotive distillates, jet fuel, and specialty chemicals throughout the local region as well as to various mining operations in the West of Queensland.

IOR's expertise in small scale refining is available on a consultancy basis.  IOR has been engaged by many customers to undertake technical and economic feasibility studies as well as to provide   engineering services for the design and implementation of plant modernisation and expansion.
